Great points.

On email, messages should be ideally be timely, relevant and fresh.

If possible, they should relate to user actions, user attributes, or seasonal/news items.

Read about it but I havent tried it. Sounds very cool. Agree market forces are the only things that might force Apple's hand. But if not, it would nice to at least have an alternative.

Have you seen Google Navigation for Android yet? Killer Android app IMHO.

http://www.techcrunch.com/2009/10/28/google-redefines-car-gps-navigation-google-maps-navigation-android/

Could it help force Apple open up the AppStore if the best apps are on Android?

Certainly smartphones just got a lot more interesting...

Great points Wayne. I agree that many people do use Email for customer solicitation and acquisition. I think the point Eric Groves of ConstantContact was making is that email should be a permissioned activity if you want an ongoing dialogue. Those that buy lists and put out blasts can't expect engagement. He had some really interesting stats about email today and how inefficient it has become as a cold lead gen tool. Agree completely on the second point.

Hi Amish,

Great content here! But I'm going to have to respectfully disagree on a couple of points:

1. E-mail is NOT for acquisition? Have to disagree here - I've worked with a number of e-newsletters (in the financial services space) that solely rely on email marketing for lead acquisition and conversion. The entire internet investing newsletter industry was built on e-mail marketing campaigns.

2. "Dont do live webinars – record and push it out there": I don't think the two options are mutually exclusive. You could do a live webinar, record it and then push it out there. I've personally seen 300% higher conversions from live webinar event attendees for both low and high ticket items.

No problem at all! Absolutely believe companies need to embrace this or they will be at a substantive disadvantage. We're hosting a full day Summit around the topic at the end of September. Would love to stay current with your thoughts!
